A couple of blogposts ago I mentioned that I want to start wearing makeup more often and I have. My recent hobby has been looking at different people's makeup creations and let me tell you something, people have mad skills. I wish I could just absorb their skills but life is not that simple,now is it?

I have been practicing, trying out different colours and just seeing what works. I thought I would share a look that I created because why not.

Let's start off with lipstick because that's something I know. I started off with matte lipstick from Inglot in a burgundy shade. It was a bit too bright for my liking so I decided to mix with a black lipstick from Cotton On . I was experimenting and now I'm in love. I love how dark it is but burgundy shade which will always be my favourite.

Now to the hard part, I'm still new please don't judge me. I only used two colours for this look which are black and (now I've got to do some thinking) I really don't now what colour this is but it's almost a combination of a shimmering pink and brown. I tried my best at blending and using all the skills I've learnt from the internet. I will definitely be sharing more makeup of the day looks and one I will be good at this makeup thing! Any tips would be highly appreciated.

I have been MIA for the past week. It was just so hectic and I was so tired. Please forgive me! I'm back and I'm sharing my current favourites because I love sharing my favourite items on my blog! I definitely think I should start doing it more often. Maybe I will but for now just take a look at what I'm loving at the moment!

Astronaut Notebook 

I love notebooks and that's no secret. They just make my life easier because I like writing things down. This is currently my favourite notebook simply because of it cool print. I'm currently using it as a bullet journal and I just feel so organised. Yay me! 

Marvel Graphic Novels 

When I saw this on TV I knew I had to get it. I already started buying the Draw The Marvel Way magazine and know I'm collecting the graphic novels. This just made my life so much better it's not good for my purse but I'll manage. It comes out every fortnight and I really hope I can collect them all. The first issue came with a huge Marvel poster. So yes, my room got an upgrade.

Pom Poms

These are so amazing! I wanted them for so long but I wasn't willing to spend R50 on one. So, when I spotted them on sale at Cotton On I didn't even think about it. The grey one is so fluffy and it has eyes. So adorable! The black one has a mirror. Which means it's not only pretty but useful as well.

Black Lipstick 

Looks like this post is all about finding things I always wanted. I really wanted black lipstick for ages but while my heart was saying yes my money said no. This lipstick was only R20 at Cotton On. Such a steal! I'm having mixed feelings about it but I'll post a full review soon! 

Sunglasses 

Sunglasses are my favourite. Future so bright gotta wear shades! My shades on so I can't see the haters (I'm also a huge fan of jokes about sunglasses). I purchased both pairs at Cotton On. I got the black ones about a year ago and the mirror one quite recently. They are just so cool and they make me feel so cool!

I do a lot of stuff during my free time such as blogging, coding and drawing and no matter how much I love these there does come a time when I feel demotivated and stuck. I can't get myself to start and it sucks. Luckily I've learnt that it's a part of life and the are ways to get through it.

1. Take a break 

Don't forces yourself to complete the task if you are feeling demotivated. Take a break and focus on other things. Read a book, watch TV, basically just do anything to take your mind off the task. Recharge your creativity by focusing you energy on something else.

2. Find Inspiration 

When I'm feeling stuck with my blog I like to read other blogs and magazines. This reminds me how much I love what I do and I after no time I'm feeling eager to start writing and taking pictures again. Don't make the mistake of comparing yourself to others. Just do you boo!

3. Set Goals 

This one always works for me. I think my biggest fear is not achieving what I really want. When I'm feeling demotivated I like to write down all my goals. Seeing them them written down on paper motivates me to get up and do some work because dreams don't work unless you do.

4. Get Organised 

This happens a lot with school work. When I realise that I have a lot to do I just start losing motivation. It sucks but I have been working on it lately. Proper time management is a life savior. I started a bullet journal and it really helps a lot. I can divide work into small pieces and knowing that I don't have heaps to do in a short period of time helps me gain motivation.

5. Create 

This contradicts number 1 but sometimes when you are feeling stuck you've just got to push yourself to keeping moving forward. After all, the water doesn't flow until you open the faucet.

Last week I reviewed a chubby stick from Factorie and I mentioned that it is a colour that I don't usually go for. It's great but this week I'm going back to my comfort zone with this lovely red shade from Avon. This lipstick is from the Perfect Reds range. It was basically made for me and I wish I could get them all but I'll just stick to this shade called Cherry Jubilee for now. 

I am absolutely in love with this shade. It's super pigmented and it's has an amazing staying ability. It lasts all day and just one layer will do the trick.

It's a very moist lipstick and has a slight shine to it. It also leaves my lips feeling smooth. It's almost as though it's a lipstick combined with a lip balm. I've got the best of both worlds.

With my little slice of the Perfect Reds range I can honestly say that it is definitely the perfect red. It's quite affordable and the rich colour is everything I could ask for!

Today I want to introduce you to the Girls Matter Fashion Fest which I will be attending on 12 November 2016. I am looking forward to  this event not only because I love all things fashion but because Girls Matter is fashion with a purpose. This annual fashion event is aimed at raising money for girls to stay in school and to empower young women in business. This year's beneficiary is 18twenty8 which is aimed at seeing young women thrive in South Africa.

 The main speaker is the owner of Fabrosanz, Sandi Mabaso, who will be speaking about her journey and inspire young women to be where she is.  The event was founded by Mandisa Avutia and Kholiwe Nkambule who have faced and are still facing obstacles young women face in business daily. I think they are also such a huge inspiration for starting this initiative. I cannot wait for this year's event. Fashion, music, food and more! When I choose lipstick I always play it safe. I go for the Reds, burgundies, rubies etc because they never disappoint me. This time around I decided to go for a different shade which is almost like a combination of brown and pink. It not such a huge risk but I have got to start with baby steps.

This lipstick is in the shade Sophia Latte and I bought it at Factorie. Factorie is not really know for their beauty products but I am such a huge fan of Factorie that I just had to try it out. This is actually the first chubby stick in my makeup collection. I was afraid that the colour wouldn't be visible on my lips but it actually turned out to be quite pigmented.

This chubby stick smells delicious it's almost as though it's edible. Any product that has such an amazing scent has a special place in my heart. The chubby stick is also quite moisturising without being too glossy. It does however quite quickly but I guess it is understandable with such a light shade.

Factorie has really impressed me and I'm hoping to purchase another chubby stick soon. There are a variety of colours to choose from and it is hard to resist such an affordable price of R50. It is impossible to resist.

A couple of months ago I started my loc journey. It's been quite exciting and has definitely made my life a whole lot easier. My dreadlocks however, where not really locking. I could notice that my hair was growing but  the locs just disappeared whenever I would wash my hair. I have come to the conclusion that the person who was doing my hair had no idea what they were doing.

Anyway let me not get off track. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have long dreadlocks now. Long hair, don't care! The dreads were crocheted onto my dreads. Thinking about attaching someone else's hair on my own was so weird at first. After having a conversation with my sister I finally decided to go for it. I mean, why wait years when I just get instant dreadlocks?

I got  dreadlocks from my cousin about two weeks after the conversation with my sister and the following day I got them attached. The whole process is pretty simple but quite time consuming. There are two methods of of attaching dreadlocks which are threading and crocheting. I went for crocheting because it gives a more natural look although it takes longer. I then dyed my hair black to make the hair match and got my locs twisted. All of this in six hours.

It's been less than a week with my new hairstyle. I have no idea how long I'm planning on keeping them. The last time I had dreadlocks I kept them for 6 years. I can't wait to try out new hairdos and just enjoy my hair!

When I look back to this time last year I can't help but notice how much my blog has grown since then. It really makes me happy. I think one of the main reasons of this success is that I have been promoting my blog a lot more. Yes it can be kind of weird at times but it's worth it. I use a couple of platforms to advertise my blog which all play an important part in the growth of my blog and hopefully my experience will help you too.
